Plan collections, not just one file
A small difference in average file size becomes significant across dozens or hundreds of files. Enter a realistic average rather than the smallest file in the group.
Keep free space available
Phones, computers and drives need working room for updates, caches and temporary files. The optional reserve adds headroom instead of filling a device to its limit.
Decimal and advertised capacity
Storage manufacturers commonly describe one gigabyte as 1,000 megabytes. Operating systems may display capacity differently, so the result is an approximate purchasing and planning figure.
Estimate first when quality changes
Moving from 720p to 1080p or 4K can increase average size substantially. Recalculate the collection when you change resolution or bitrate.
